Cholesterol Confusion? Learn The Good, The Bad, And the BETTER- For Heart Health.

By February 10, 2023No Comments

Get empowered and learn about good foods and LDL cholesterol and gain the power to take control of your health.

Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, I have a special video for you today that’s all about showing your heart some love.

But before I get into the details, if you don’t already know me, I’m Jeff Tomaszewski, Chief Life Transformer at MaxStrength Fitness where we help men and woman reverse the aging process in only 20 minutes Twice a week without breaking a sweat.

And even though my biggest focus is on strength, we NEED to talk about things like heart health and cholesterol if we want to live a truly healthy life.

For context, we’re talking about LDL cholesterol here, which is the “bad cholesterol” in your body.

If it helps you to remember it, you can think of LDL as the LOUSY or “bad” cholesterol.

When you have too much LDL cholesterol in your body, it can build up in the walls of your blood vessels, which can lead to serious health problems like heart disease and stroke.

But before you brace yourself for a long list of foods you need to cut out of your diet right now, don’t worry…

I want to take a minute to focus on WHAT to eat to help lower your LDL cholesterol.

All these foods contain things like:

Soluble fiber, which binds to cholesterol in your digestive system and “sweeps” it out of your body before it can get into your circulation…

Plant compounds that block your body from absorbing cholesterol in the first place…

Polyunsaturated fats, which directly lower your LDL…

And some contain a mix of some or all of the above!

Now, here’s the part where you might want to take some notes…

The LDL-fighting foods you’re going to want to incorporate are things like whole grains, especially oats and barley…

Beans like lentils, black beans, and kidney beans…

Non-starchy veggies such as broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, etc….

Dark leafy greens and nuts, especially walnuts and almonds…

Fruit, especially berries…

Fatty fish like salmon, sardines, and tuna…

And even olive oil, avocados, tofu, and edamame.

That’s SO much to choose from!

You can start by swapping these foods into your diet to crowd out some of the processed stuff…

It doesn’t have to be an overnight change, but your heart will thank you for it!

That said, if you’re concerned about your long-term health and you need some help with your wellness, whether it’s sleep, stress, bad habits, or nutrition, we’ve got you covered.
