This is Cassie coming to you from MaxStrength Fitness Willoughby. As you know, this month in our Max Strength Fitness Mastery Series, we’re exploring the fourth P, purpose.
Today, we’re going to dig a little bit deeper and understand why purpose is essential to getting amazing results.
Let’s start with a term that you probably haven’t heard of, but one that you probably do have some experience with: Voluntary activation deficit.
So, what is voluntary activation deficit? Quite simply, it’s quitting before we’re done. It’s the difference between the effort we’re capable of giving and the effort we actually give.
So, what’s holding us back? Why do most of us, often, without even realizing it, stop short of our full potential? Quite simply, it’s in our nature. It’s a protective instinct that we are biologically hardwired to avoid pain and strenuous effort. But our true potential lies in the gap between how much we think we can do and how much we actually can do. And the only way to get there is to override that instinct and choose to push harder.
But how do we do this? That brings us back to purpose. When we understand our purpose, our personal purpose for getting stronger, as well as the true purpose of each exercise, we can work to create the mental fortitude and resilience it takes to close that gap between what we think we can do and what we actually can do. All of us here at Max Strength Fitness are dedicated to helping our clients close the gap and get the most out of each and every session, exercise, and rep. That’s why we don’t just talk the talk, but we walk the walk. We practice what we preach so we know what you are up against and we can lead you to success.
