Hey! Jeff here, and I want to tell you a little story about an “aha moment” I had a while back…
It had been a really long day and I was exhausted. I couldn’t wait to go to bed.
As soon as I crawled between the sheets I was SUPER GRATEFUL. Not just for the chance to finally get into bed, but …
I’d totally forgotten that I’d changed my sheets earlier … and they were crisp and clean.
I mean, that’s the best, right?
Your bed feels SO cozy and comfy when it’s all clean.
And it doesn’t just feel good… it also makes it easier to get a good night of sleep.
It’s one of life’s little pleasures …
And here’s the point of this video.
That pleasure – that payoff – was made possible thanks to a boring habit.
Who actually looks forward to changing their sheets?
I’m guessing not a lot of people.
But we do it anyway because of the payoff.
The fact is that almost every small pleasure in life — and every success! — is built on a foundation of everyday habits.
And a lot of those habits are boring.
Yes, I said it. Some habits are boring.
But their after-effects are NOT boring, at all.
They can affect:
- Your health
- Your fitness level
- Your skills
- Even your relationships & your retirement account!
There’s nothing sexy about the process — it’s just a matter of making good choices every day, and showing up and doing the work.
By that I mean:
- Choosing to eat healthy foods — even when you don’t want to
- Choosing to exercise regularly — especially when you don’t want to
- Choosing to keep working on a new skill until you master it — even when you don’t feel like it
The payoffs are definitely WORTH IT.
So today I have a little challenge for you.
Take a few minutes and think about ONE habit you can practice — starting today — that will help you move closer to a healthier & fitter lifestyle.
From there, put that little habit on repeat … even when it gets boring.
Because I promise you, the results definitely won’t be.
