Valentine

At the timing of this video, this is Valentine’s Day weekend, and some of you may have that special someone to celebrate with, and others may not. But look, regardless if you have a serious relationship or not, I’d have you consider that your Valentine is not necessarily who you think it is. It’s not your wife, it’s not your husband or your boyfriend or your girlfriend. Nope. This person is far more important. You know them better than anyone else, and they know you better than anyone else as well. They’re there in the good times, they’re there in the bad times. Whether you’ve ever let them down or they’ve let you down, this person’s always there no matter the circumstance. And this person you should not only celebrate with, but you should say “I love you” to on Valentine’s Day, but every day moving forward, not just this special day, right? Who’s this mysterious person? Well, it’s you. No one else can truly love you until you love yourself.

Here’s an exercise I heard recently during one of my guided meditations on my Insight Timer app. You place your hand over your heart, you look directly in the mirror, in your eyes, at you, and say, “I love you. I love you.”

I know it sounds a little corny, it’s a little weird, but try it. Because at the end of the day, we have to love ourselves before we can let others love us and truly experience others’ love. So this Valentine’s day I’d have you consider, yes, enjoy it with your sweetheart, but enjoy it with you in every day here on out, and be your voice in loving you every single day. Because at the end of the day, you and I deserve it.
