Why You Should Avoid Ultra Processed Foods

By August 26, 2022No Comments

Hey, it’s Jeff here …, and in this video, I’m going to tell you what I think is the #1 non-mindset-related issue holding people back from their goals. It also stops them from feeling their very best, day in and day out! It’s a topic that gets me very fired up, so I hope you’re ready!

Before I tell you what it is, if you don’t already know me, I’m Jeff Tomaszewski with MaxStrength Fitness, and we help men and women just like you reverse the aging process in only 20 minutes Twice a Week without breaking a sweat!OK, so are you ready for the #1 roadblock stopping people from reaching their goals?FYI … this ranking is based on my years of experience, but there’s plenty of science to back it up.

The #1 action that stops people from reaching their health & fitness goals is, drumroll, please …Eating ultra-processed foods!

By that, I mean:

  • Frozen or prepared meals, instant noodles, and soups
  • baked goods like pizza, cake, cookies, and packaged bread
  • processed cheese products, ice cream, and candy
  • breakfast cereals
  • chips, crackers, and other packaged snacks
  • processed meats
  • sodas and other sugary drinks

Quite a list, right? A research study done just before the pandemic found that MORE THAN HALF of our daily calories come from these foods …and experts think the number might be even higher now because of how many of us changed our habits during lockdowns.

The main problem is that these products contain less fiber, vitamins, and minerals than unprocessed foods but they also contain unhealthy added sugars, fats, and salt. They are so tasty they make you eat MORE than you would if you were eating whole foods.

They are specifically designed to be crave-able so you end up eating MORE of that nasty stuff. You might notice that you feel bloated and blah right after you eat these foods. But that’s just the start of it.

  • One study found that eating processed foods was linked with more than a 10% increase in heart disease and strokes.
  • Another study found that eating more than four servings of these foods daily was directly linked with a higher mortality rate.
  • Plus, these foods are linked with gaining weight, which is connected with diabetes, heart disease, and many other health problems.

Your body is fantastic, and it deserves better than to be fed a diet of these junk foods! I hope this info reframes your thinking a little about processed foods. It can take time and patience to retrain your tastebuds – but it’s definitely worth the effort.

And you (and your body!) will be SO GLAD that you did. So the next time you shop, use the perimeter of the store (minus the bakery, of course). If you can kill, grow, or pluck it from a tree, then eat it! It’s a whole food! If you want to take the next step in your health & wellness, we’re here to help.

At MaxStrength Fitness, we’ve helped hundreds of people like you live healthier and more vibrant lives. You can request an initial consultation at maxstrengthfitness.com or call us at 440-835-9090.
